Jeweller
Pippa Small has been named as an ambassador for Survival
International,
the worldwide movement to support tribal peoples.
Pippa has supported Survival for many years because of her work with tribal peoples.
Pippa has worked with many indigenous communities including the San Bushmen of
the Kalahari, the Batwa Pygmies of Rwanda, and the Kuna in Panama helping them
to research their traditional designs to generate self-sufficiency and income.
Pippa has also designed exclusive jewellery ranges for Survival.
Pippa said, 'I've personally been involved with Survival because it is the only
organisation defending the rights of tribal peoples. I want to use my new role
to get more people involved with Survival International.'
Pippa has been particularly active in her support of the Kalahari Bushmen, who
were evicted from their ancestral lands to make way for diamond mining, using
her contacts within the diamond business to stand up for the Bushmen.
Survival's Director Stephen Corry said today, 'I'm delighted that Pippa Small,
who has been an active supporter of tribal people for many years, has agreed
to be an ambassador.' |
